The trip up to The Pulpit Rock is one of the country’s most popular hikes. The plateau towards the fjord offers a unique view, but the trip up is also a great experience with idyllic forest terrain and several beautiful vantage points along the way.
The pulpit is a favorite destination for many avid hikers, so if you want to avoid large crowds and queues on the trail, you should avoid the busiest times, especially in the middle of the day and on weekends. In the summer, it is recommended to take advantage of the long days, and make the trip in the evening.
The trip up to the Pulpit Rock is done in less than two hours for those who are experienced hikers. Most of the trail is paved with stones to spare the enviroment, yet it is hilly and rugged for large parts of the ride. Children and untrained hikers will spend three hours one way without a break. The height difference is 330 meters and the distance is 4 km. Once there, a virtually flat plateau of 25 x 25 meters, 604 masl, awaits.
Most people go on the trip in the summer, but also in the winter you can get a special trip. Even if the trail is covered with snow and ice, and the weather conditions can be challenging, you will be able to have a great experience, just remember to put on suitable footwear and outerwear.
